SHAMELESS DISCLAIMER AND SIMPLE MISSION STATEMENT

I confess to be hopelessly addicted to the written word.  My degree is in English and I average reading a minimum of four books per week and have had this addiction for 20+ years.  I am fortunate to have a real job that involves more than ample air travel and waiting in airports, thus plenty reading time.  The Kindle has lightened my luggage weight considerably and instant access to books feeds my addiction.

I was an early adopter of the Kindle and quickly discovered the stock cover left a lot to be desired.  My goal of making a custom cover was not to start a business or make a fashion statement.  My objective was to make a cover that allowed me to comfortably hold my Kindle in any position, similar to holding a book.  The end result was not an overnight project as I made dozens of prototypes over several weeks and continue to make enhancements until I settled on a version that I personally thought would enhance my reading experience on an  electronic book.

It would be an understatement to indicate that I am both amazed and humbled at the attention my little handmade book cover attracted during my travels.  I received numerous request for my covers, posted a few on eBay, discovered they were mentioned on various message boards and several hundred later, I'm still making them one-at-a-time.

Thus my humble DISCLAIMER:  I've made and sold hundreds of these covers and generally receive nice reviews.  I have only been asked twice for a refund and issued same, no questions asked, immediately.  In both cases the reason indicated were "it wasn't exactly what I was expecting", with the underlying issue of it not looking factory made.  While I should be overjoyed at hundreds of satisfied customer, the issue of a couple less than satisfied is a bit troubling.  I'm concerned that there is a remote chance that there is any misrepresentation in the description of my cover.

My humble desire is that anyone considering my custom cover fully understand that it is handmade.  There is a high possibility that you will find a seam that is not laser strait.   My goal remains to make a cover that makes holding and reading on the Kindle a pleasurable experience, offer same at a reasonable price, and have full disclosure that it may be less than perfect.  The fact that is is fairly unique, lends itself to making a fashion statement and supports my stress relieving creative outlet is simply a bonus!

Thanks

Frank
